Spee-Dee Guide

Spee-Dee offers ground delivery services throughout the Midwest, ensuring a next-day delivery footprint across Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. This regional carrier also serves selected cities and ZIP codes in Michigan, Missouri, and Nebraska, making it a reliable option for timely distribution within these areas.

This guide includes detailed information on utilizing Spee-Dee shipping with the EasyPost API, focusing on account setup, rates, label creation, tracking, and more.


Prerequisites

Account Registration

Sign up for an EasyPost account to obtain a Test and Production API key. See Authentication and Key Management for more information.

Note: Negotiated rates are only available in Production mode.

Carrier Setup

Upon sign-up with EasyPost, users gain immediate access to Default Carrier Accounts, which can be enabled directly from the Dashboard. For additional carriers, EasyPost supports a Bring Your Own Account (BYOA) option. This requires users to register directly with the respective carrier.

Spee-Dee Shipper Account Registration

  1. Contact Spee-Dee to request a shipper account. A representative will be in touch for additional details regarding the account.
  2. Contact Spee-Dee at manifest@speedeedelivery.com to activate FTP manifesting for the account through EasyPost.
  3. Obtain the following test and production account credentials:
    1. Spee-Dee Account Number
  4. Input carrier-specific credentials within the EasyPost Carrier Account Dashboard for comprehensive rate access.

Spee-Dee Account via API

The API structure specified by EasyPost can also be used to add the Spee-Dee carrier shipper account.

Rates

Spee-Dee is a Live Rating integration, enabling real-time rate retrieval for shipments created via EasyPost. Rates are guaranteed valid for a minimum of five minutes.

  • When creating a shipment, EasyPost requests Spee-Dee for shipment rates.
  • The rates provided are directly from Spee-Dee.
  • In cases of discrepancies or incorrect rates, users are advised to contact their Spee-Dee account representative.

Generating Shipping Labels

With EasyPost, generating shipping labels for Spee-Dee is the same process as generating them for any other carrier.

1-call buys enable streamlined label purchasing through the EasyPost API by consolidating multiple operations into a single API request. Voiding Labels

Voiding Spee-Dee labels through EasyPost is not supported.

EasyPost offers native Spee-Dee labels in PNG, PDF, and ZPL formats.

Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT)

Pickups
