Forge is EasyPost’s solution for platforms, marketplaces, and other B2B businesses that offer end-to-end parcel shipping capabilities. With fast onboarding, access to EasyPost’s 100+ multi-carrier network, and competitive rates, Forge enables seamless integration of shipping functionality.

Sub Accounts in Forge

Each business or customer that signs up for a platform’s shipping services is assigned a sub_account. Platforms can configure sub accounts to align with their business model, distributing specific responsibilities between the platform, EasyPost, and sub accounts.

Prerequisites

Before integrating with Forge, review the following EasyPost documentation:

  • EasyPost Objects: Understand the API’s structure, which is essential for constructing requests and interpreting responses.
  • Authentication: Learn how to authenticate API requests securely.
  • Errors: Review error handling best practices to troubleshoot API issues effectively.

Create a Shipping Offering

EasyPost provides industry-leading shipping APIs with 99.99% uptime, covering end-to-end shipping use cases. Forge enables platforms to integrate shipping functionality seamlessly, forging together a customized shipping offering by leveraging EasyPost’s APIs to enhance the customer experience.

Shipping capabilities can be built using EasyPost’s APIs for Shipping Labels, Parcel Insurance, Tracking, Scheduling Pick Ups, and Address Verification. Additional tools such as Report Generation and the Shipping UI Tutorial are also available.


Onboard Accounts

Sub accounts represent customers or businesses using a platform’s shipping services. Account setup allows for the collection of necessary information to enable postage purchase, parcel insurance, and other shipping-related fees or surcharges.

A Forge integration varies significantly depending on the chosen billing structure for postage, usage fees, and carrier fees. Choose an implementation, then Contact EasyPost Sales to get started.

Manage Accounts

Forge supports three account management options for sub accounts:

Customer Portals (Recommended)

  • Onboarding: Sub accounts complete a conversion-optimized, co-branded onboarding process within an EasyPost-hosted environment.
  • Account Management: Sub accounts access a co-branded, EasyPost-hosted dashboard configured based on Forge platform settings.

Custom API Integrations

Build a fully customized onboarding and account management experience using EasyPost’s APIs.

No-Code Administration

Manually create, onboard, and manage sub accounts directly through the Forge Dashboard.

Note: EasyPost recommends the Customer Portals method for onboarding and account management. This option automatically adapts to changing requirements and is configurable within the Forge Dashboard.
