# Maersk Parcel Guide

Maersk Parcel is a large regional carrier available exclusively through EasyPost, offering three-day shipping from major metropolitan
areas at the most competitive rates. This service is ideal for small and medium-sized businesses that may not have the shipping
volume or negotiating power to secure lower rates independently. Maersk Parcel provides a cost-effective solution to supplement
existing carrier options.

This guide includes detailed information on utilizing Maersk Parcel shipping with the EasyPost API, focusing on account setup, rates,
label creation, manifests, tracking, and more.

## Prerequisites

### Account Registration

Sign up for an EasyPost account to obtain a **Test** and **Production** API
key. See Authentication and Key Management for more information.

### Carrier Setup

Maersk Parcel accounts are created directly through EasyPost. New accounts are automatically created when Maersk Parcel is
added to the EasyPost Dashboard or through the EasyPost API.

1. Log in to the EasyPost Dashboard and navigate to **Account Settings**.
2. Select the **Carriers** tab.
3. Select **Add Carrier**.
4. Select Maersk from the list of carriers and complete the following sections to add an account:
   1. Contact and Company Information
   2. Origin Address
   3. Billing Address
   4. Estimated Volume
   5. Select the checkbox stating that the Terms & Conditions have been read.

If an existing Maersk Parcel account already exists with the same demographic information, EasyPost will associate that
account rather than duplicating it.

> Note: Maersk Parcel accounts are specific to the shipment origin. A separate account is required for each origin,
and a new account must be created if the shipping location changes.

#### Maersk Parcel Account via API

## Rates

Maersk Parcel is a **Live Rating** integration, enabling real-time rate retrieval for shipments created via EasyPost.

In cases of discrepancies or incorrect rates, users are advised to contact their Maersk Parcel account representative at 1 (385) 458-7940.

Rates are charged in USD through the EasyPost Wallet.

---

## Billing

Maersk Parcel is an aggregate carrier, which means it consolidates shipping services from multiple final-mile carriers.

When a label is purchased through EasyPost, two separate billing events occur.

- **EasyPost Wallet charge:** The EasyPost Wallet is charged immediately for the label purchase.
- **Final mile carrier charge:** Maersk Parcel is billed by the final mile carrier according to that carrier’s billing process, which may be bill-on-scan (when the parcel is first scanned into their network) or bill-on-creation (at the time the label is generated).

Billing details, rates, and adjustments are managed by EasyPost in partnership with Maersk Parcel, ensuring end users
are charged the correct amount through their EasyPost Wallet.
